Mission: Beat Personal Best

Beating your Personal Best after having the best of everything else is very much about not wasting potential. In the quest of beating our personal bests – better nutrition, better shoes and more training for endurance is usually foremost in our mind. The final step that puts it all together is actually to run.

But is your body’s biomechanics and technique up to the same mark as everything else to deliver the promise of better timings?

Is your hamstring muscle length too short that it forces your thigh muscles to work harder than it needs to lift your leg up? Is your foot-fall less than optimal that it recruits additional muscles to help stabilise your ankle, sapping away precious energy stores?

No two bodies are exactly alike. Every part of your body is connected to at least one other body part. Adjustment in one area will lead to adjustments to other areas of your body. Only by taking a complete view of your body’s mechanics and running technique are we able to advise on what is optimal for you.

During the analysis, we will measure the following parameters:

  1. Postural/Flexibility/Strength Assessment
  2. Muscle Strength/Endurance
  3. Body Composition
  4. Aerobic Pace Test with HR Monitoring
  5. Video Analysis

What to expect

The analysis will be caried out in two stages. The first stage will cover the first three parameters – Postural/Flexibility/
Strength Assessment and Muscle Strength/Endurance. is will be assessed by a trained sports physiotherapist at any one of our three clinic locations.

The second stage will cover these parameters – Body Composition, Aerobic Pace Test with HR Monitoring and Video Analysis at either Yio Chu Kang Stadium or National Stadium Practice Track.

The stage one muscle strength and endurance parameter test can be quite exhausting and will affect the results of the
second stage if the runner is not properly rested.
