Getting back to sports after an injury broadly take you through 3 stages of progress – Heal, Strengthen and Protect
3 Stages to Get Back to Sports

Heal – this is the first phase – getting the pain under management. However, given the athlete’s requirements for performance, this Heal stage is generally more aggressive than for an otherwise normal patient who simply wishes to be pain free. The aggressive approach is to minimise the down time the athlete experience from training and the resultant
muscle tone loss.
Strengthen – One primary reason sports injuries occur is that the demand of the sports simply exceeded the body’s ability to support it. It is then vital that your body is able to withstand the demands of the sport, hence the Strengthen phase. Rehabilitative strengthening a body part or area is often more than simply basic weight-training. Complex joints such as the shoulder requires a balanced approach to all the individual muscles supporting the joint and making the dynamic movements possible.
Protect – This phase is about the enhancement of performance through nutritional education, body awareness, injury prevention education and biomechanical assessment of movements.
